Jack Frost Fest Appeals to all Ages
Bring a friend or bring the entire family to the 10th annual Jack Frost Fest Saturday, Jan. 15 because the many events at this popular winter festival will appeal to all ages. The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce is the event sponsor.

Among the events (some require early registration) are the adult pond hockey tournament, ice fishing contest on the Yellow River Flowage, Mite hockey tournament, turkey bowling and Jack's Snowshoe Jaunt in Spooner City Park. There will be prizes for the longest northern pike and panfish in the fishing contest. The World Championship of Minnow Racing gets at Big Dick's Buckhorn Inn is open to all ages. There is open skating on the pond and sledding on the hill next to the parking lot.

Be sure to visit the Antique Snowmobile Show presented by the Rolling Hills Snowmobile Club. The sport of racing classic and vintage sleds, as well as restoring them for shows, is growing by leaps and bounds. Registration ($5, no limit on sleds) is at 10:30 a.m., show 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., awards 1 p.m., and ride 2-4 p.m. You don't have to be registered to take part in the ride.

A large heated tent will have festival-style food, merchandise displays and raffle sales. Grand prizes in the raffles will be drawn at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye out for who wins the chili and rib cooking contests for future visits, especially if they are restaurants or other dining establishment.

Registration for the adult pond hockey tournament is open to men 18 years and older. Divisions are Gold – Adult Men 18 & Older, and Silver – Adult Men 18 & Older. Entry fee is $100 per team. Each player gets a promotional gift package. Winners will have their names engraved on the Jack Frost Fest Pond Hockey Cup and will receive $100 in Spooner Chamber Dollars.
