Exciting Motto and ATV Races Set at Mole Lake
Last year, the lake behind the Mole Lake Casino & Lodge welcomed fans of vintage snowmobile racing. This year, racing on the lake oval takes a different turn with the arrival of motorcycle and ATV racing the weekend of Jan. 29-30. Racers will be competing for cash, trophies and points toward the season championships.
Racing is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., encompassing 20 to 30 (motto) races. Pro event will run Saturday afternoon. Sunday, practice will be at 9 a.m. with racing at 11 a.m. with about 60 mottos. Admission is $7 per day, 13 and up ($10 for the weekend) and 12 and under admitted free.
Part of the Central Wisconsin Ice Racing Association's series, the Mole Lake races will accommodate riders from amateurs making their first foray into the sport to seasoned experts, according to the Mole Lake race promoter Ronn Krueger. Both three- and four-wheel ATVs and motorcycles will be racing, including classes for studded and unstudded tires. For more information about entering the races, go to www.cwira.com .
Enjoy hot food and cold refreshments inside the heated tent on the ice. If you want to travel by sled, you can reach downtown Mole Lake from two trail connections: from the north, via the Blackbear Sportsman Club Trail which connects to the Sokaogon Chippewa Snowmobile Trail; from the south, via the Tombstone/Pickerel Snowmobile Trail, which goes directly to the downtown area also. |
