Round up those Snowmobiles, ATVs for the 2011 Snow Rodeo
What goes round and round, as well as up? If you guessed the Snow Rodeo in Prentice, you may be a member of the Prentice Bushbenders Snowmobile Club, which sponsors the Snow Rodeo, or a racer from a previous year's Rodeo.During the Rodeo, a competitor rides a snowmobile or ATV solo around an ice oval track and against the clock for the best time. That's the round and round part. Last year, with more than 60 racers the Rodeo had its largest turnout of competitors in its young three-year history. That's the up part. The 2010 event drew racers from 100 miles away, according to Troy Larson of the Bushbenders. The organizers hope to entice even more snowmobile and ATV enthusiasts for a day of fun during the 2011 Snow Rodeo on Saturday, Feb. 26. Racing takes place on an ice oval laid out on Buccaneer Pond, behind Sailor's Bar & Grill, 715 Railroad Ave., Prentice. Racing gets underway at 10 a.m. and goes until at least 3 p.m. There are four ATV classes, three snowmobile classes and one for youth racers. There is a fee per race attempt. There will be raffles, food and drinks available throughout the day. Proceeds will go for trail maintenance and improvements. Access the Snow Rodeo via trails #181/#102. Heated tent on the grounds.
