 Chief St. Germaine - St. Germain With arms folded Chief St. Germaine welcomes visitors to this Vilas County community. Appropriately enough, he's standing in front of the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce building at Hwys. 70 and 155. The statue commemorates all Native Americans who used the area of St. Germain for fishing and hunting. And, no, there was no "Chief" St.Germaine. The name St. Germaine was derived from a French soldier Jean Francois St. Germaine who lived here in the 1690's. |
